Caribbean Tour Diary – Day 1… and what a start! 
I’m writing this sat at the breakfast table with a fresh coffee in hand, soaking up the view before the bus arrives to take us to Games 2 and 3 at Mount Pleasant today. It’s one of those moments where you just stop, breathe, and appreciate where cricket has taken you.
Yesterday was absolutely relentless, so apologies for the delayed update… but trust me, it was worth the wait!
What. A. Day. And that was only Day 1!
The morning started in the best possible way. Fresh watermelon, papaya and pineapple for breakfast while easing ourselves into island life. No rush, no stress… just enjoying the sunshine before the supporters’ coach rolled in.
Then came the journey to the ground.
Ninety minutes weaving our way up the coastline. Up hills, down hills, around bends that seemed to go on forever… but every twist rewarded us with another stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean. Honestly, I spent half the journey staring out of the window. Next time I’ll remember to actually take some photos instead of just admiring it!
We arrived just as the lads were getting themselves warmed up, which gave us the perfect excuse to sample lunch. Noodles, rice, fresh salad and beautifully marinated chicken… safe to say the tastebuds were very happy!
The weather tried its best to spoil things. The sun spent most of the afternoon hiding behind the clouds and there were a few showers drifting around, but thankfully we still got some cricket.
Rain reduced the game to 12 overs a side, with the Trailblazers taking to the field first. They produced a brilliant bowling display to restrict the opposition to 64-8, making every run hard earned.
Chasing on a damp wicket with a soggy outfield was never going to be straightforward, but the boys never looked flustered. They played with confidence, stayed composed, and wrapped up the victory in the 10th over.
Tour win number one… tick! 
As good as the cricket was, the day wasn’t quite over.
The journey back to the hotel just happened to clash with the England football match. Missing it? Never an option.
Thankfully, Matt Dawson knew a guy… who knew a guy… who knew a guy…
The bus suddenly took an unexpected 30-degree turn off the main road, followed by an even narrower, windier lane before arriving at what can only be described as a hidden gem—a tiny village shop with an equally tiny bar tucked away out front.
It couldn’t have been more perfect.
We all migrated outside where a welcome Caribbean breeze made the evening even better. The football was entertaining enough, but the real comedy came every time a car needed to squeeze through the street. Without taking their eyes off the screen, the Ludimus lads would simply shuffle their chairs forward in perfect unison to let the car pass before settling straight back into position. Priorities!
A brilliant first day.
Great food. Great cricket. Great company. A few unexpected adventures. And the first win safely in the bag.
Now… coffee’s almost finished, the bus is nearly here, and it’s time to see what Day 2 has in store.
