Global Cricket Series - Day 2 Tobago 2026
Caribbean Tour Diary – Day 2… when cricket, goats and flip-flops all made an appearance! 
Well… Day 2 certainly didn’t go to plan… but somehow it turned out to be one of those days we’ll probably remember the most!
The day began with another incredible Caribbean breakfast. Fresh fruit (which I’m convinced tastes ten times better over here) and my first proper helping of fried plantain… safe to say I’m becoming a fan!
With full stomachs, we headed off to the ground ready for two more matches.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other ideas.
The outfield resembled a swimming pool, the rain refused to stop, and after a lot of hopeful waiting around, the first game was officially called off.
That didn’t stop the boys though…
If you can’t play cricket on the pitch, you simply play cricket in the Shower Room! Watching them happily batting and bowling despite downpour outside was brilliant.
After another lengthy wait, the second game—at exactly the same ground—also fell victim to the weather.
So… Plan B.
The boys headed off for an impromptu game of beach cricket while the mums (quite sensibly!) decided a little retail therapy was the better option. A wander around the local shops, a few souvenirs picked up and lunch delivered back to the hotel… not a bad way to spend a rainy afternoon!
After a bit of downtime came something none of us had ever experienced before…
Goat Racing.
Yes… actual goat racing.
And honestly… it was absolutely brilliant.
Race after race, with the organisers making sure every touring side had a representative. One Ludimos player lined up in every heat, cheering (or desperately trying to steer!) their goat towards the finish line.
Halfway through the evening we were treated to a traditional Caribbean wedding performance, full of colour, music and plenty of laughs, before the racing resumed.
When it came to the Grand Final, our Ludimos representative gave it everything and came home in a fantastic second place! Not quite the winner… but definitely enough to claim plenty of bragging rights!
As if that wasn’t enough entertainment, the boys somehow managed to find a random piece of wood… which, naturally, became a cricket bat. It doesn’t matter where they are in the world—if there’s something vaguely bat-shaped, there’ll be a game of cricket within minutes!
The evening wasn’t over yet though…
Next stop… Sunday School.
Now before anyone imagines hymn books and quiet reflection… this is Trinidad, and Sunday School is something completely different!
Running on true Caribbean time, things started fashionably late. While everyone gathered, the boys found… yes, you’ve guessed it… another way to play cricket.
This time using a flip-flop as the bat! 
Eventually the unmistakable sound of steelpans filled the air. Knowing these incredible instruments originated right here in Trinidad and Tobago made it even more special. Backed by a live band, the atmosphere was infectious.
Before long everyone was dancing…
Well… almost everyone.
The adults threw themselves into it, much to the absolute horror of the boys! 
Matt and Chris didn’t escape either—they were soon joining in and doing their best to keep up with the rhythm.
Another day where the scorebook didn’t tell the whole story.
No cricket matches.
Plenty of cricket.
Goat racing.
Steelpans.
Flip-flops.
A little shopping.
A lot of laughter.
And another unforgettable day making memories that will last far longer than any result ever could.
Who knows what tomorrow has in store?
