Global Cricket Series - Day 4 Tobago 2026
Caribbean Tour Diary – Day 4… sunshine finally arrived… on our day off! 
Well, isn’t that just typical…
After three days of dodging tropical downpours, the Caribbean finally decided to show us what it’s really capable of.
Wall-to-wall sunshine. Blue skies. Not a cloud in sight.
And, of course…
No cricket! 
The day started, as every good day should over here, with another mountain of fresh tropical fruit. Feeling a little more adventurous, I also sampled some fried fish with pumpkin choka, spinach and mushrooms. I’m definitely expanding my breakfast horizons on this tour!
With no cricket on the agenda, it was time for one of Tobago’s highlights… Buccoo Reef.
Waiting for us were four brightly coloured Caribbean boats that looked like they’d jumped straight off a postcard. I bagged myself a seat downstairs where sections of the floor are made from glass, giving us a front-row seat to the coral and tropical fish below. Nature’s own aquarium!
Our first stop was the famous Nylon Pool.
Imagine standing waist-deep in crystal-clear turquoise water… in the middle of the sea!
Even better, the locals have floating bars anchored out there, because apparently in Tobago, if you’re standing in the ocean and fancy a drink… someone has already thought of that! 
Somehow, I also found myself promoted to official tour photographer. Every phone imaginable was handed over with the same instruction…
“Can you just get one more?”
I think I spent as much time taking photos as everyone else did posing for them!
Surrounded by music blasting from the nearby boats, plenty of dancing and endless laughter, the atmosphere was absolutely brilliant.
Then it was on to the beach.
Now this is where these tours are about so much more than cricket.
There were games, swimming, beach cricket (obviously!), plenty of laughs, and lots of memories being made. Watching the boys simply enjoying each other’s company, away from scorecards and pressure, really summed up what these tours are all about. The friendships being built this week will last far longer than any cricket match.
Of course, all that activity worked up an appetite…
Thankfully, a Caribbean BBQ was waiting for us.
There was food everywhere! Fresh salads, grilled meats, incredible seafood, and enough delicious options to keep everyone happy. For those wanting to fully embrace island life, the rum was flowing freely…
I, however, remained firmly on the soft drinks! 
(I’m sure enough parents made up for my lack of contribution!)
If BBQ wasn’t enough, there were also local food stalls serving everything from freshly caught lobster to all sorts of island favourites. You certainly don’t go hungry in Tobago.
Eventually, with full stomachs and slightly pinker noses than when we started, it was time to climb back aboard the boats and head towards the buses.
Although… “head towards” is perhaps the right phrase.
The buses were literally just around the corner, so a few of us decided we’d earned a little stroll instead.
Naturally, that stroll somehow included a quick stop at a mini mart… and then another at a local gyro shop.
Because clearly we hadn’t eaten enough already!
My final culinary discovery of the day?
A shrimp, pineapple and cheese wrap.
It sounds like one of those combinations that shouldn’t work…
…but somehow it absolutely did!
Then it was back to the hotel, a quick shower, and the easiest decision of the day…
Straight into bed.
Tomorrow the serious cricket returns with the 50-over matches, batteries fully recharged, suntans slightly enhanced, and hopefully with the Caribbean sunshine deciding to stick around this time!
One thing’s for certain… this tour keeps delivering moments we’ll be talking about long after we’ve unpacked our suitcases.
